There are other yoga mat sizes other than these, usually the thickest is 1/2-inch (12.8 mm) which is extremely thick and soft.

A premium yoga mat is a luxurious choice but have an open-heart and be prepared to trial and error a few mats before you find ‘the one’. Remember you can always, sell or giveaway the yoga mats you did not love and there are actually quite a few creative ways you can recycle or re-use yoga mats so you don’t feel so guilty about treating yourself to a premium yoga mat that enhances your yoga.
